10 Cozy Fall Recipes to Make All Season Long
Here are some of my favorite fall recipes, from breakfasts to easy weeknight dinners that my whole family loves.
1. Pumpkin Streusel Muffins

I love all things pumpkin in the fall (I’m a shameless pumpkin spice person), and these streusel muffins really hit the spot. They are just sweet enough to make for a dessert, but also filling enough to be the center of your breakfast. If you want something even a little more rich and heavy on the flavors of fall, check out my baked pumpkin donuts with cream cheese frosting.
2. Overnight French Toast

As the days grow shorter I prefer to stay in bed a little longer on the weekends whenever possible. Overnight French Toast is one of those easy recipes you can put together the night before and pop it in the oven the next day. Throw it in the oven and set on a timer while you climb back under the covers to catch a little more shuteye.
3. Turkey Dumpling Soup

One of my favorite things about cooler weather is adding cozy soups and stews back on the menu! This soup can be made with leftovers from Thanksgiving turkey, a rotisserie chicken you grab from the store, or leftover meat from a roasted chicken. The dumplings are the real start of the show though, to be honest. I could easily eat a whole bowl of just those. This one-pot meal quickly cooks up for a healthy fall dinner.
4. Easy Ham Hock Soup

Ham hocks are often times an overlooked staple in any from-scratch or farmhouse kitchen. They have an amazing smoky flavor and so much meat left on the bone! This recipe uses seasonal produce simmered gently to perfection. After eating a bowl of this soup I always feel like I’ve not only had a satisfying meal, but fortified my bones with all the vitamins and minerals from the slow-simmered hocks and all the great veggies.
5. Homemade Chili

My children are ridiculously picky eaters, despite my best efforts. However, chili with chips and cheese is somehow the most popular of our family dinners. This makes a thick, savory chili that isn’t too spicy, but you can certainly up the spice level however you like. I like it best with a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of cheese, and corn bread or tortilla chips to go along with it. Definitely another favorite recipe in my fall menu rotation!
6. Beef Pasties

Pronounced past-ee (paste-ee is something else entirely) these are a staple in the Cornwall, England, where they were an easy to carry lunch for miners. When Cornish immigrants settled in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, they brought the traditional food with them and it has stuck around ever since. Frankly, these are in my top five favorite comfort foods of all time. Savory, full of root vegetables, and with a crispy delicious crust on the outside, they just can’t be beat. You can also make up a big batch of these to freeze and heat up later for an easy weeknight dinner.
7. Homemade Oat Bread

This recipe has been asked for by pretty much every person who has ever eaten a slice. It is practically fool-proof and makes fantastic toast. If it goes a little stale on you (which I doubt because we clean up a whole loaf in a day or so) it is amaaaazing in the French Toast recipe shared above. I promise this one will become a family favorite!
8. Sourdough Sandwich Bread

For those wanting to dip their toes in the sourdough world, this sourdough sandwich bread comes out fantastic every time and is very easy to make. Crusty bread dipped in one of those soups up above? Yes please! If you are new to sourdough or hesitant to try it I have a few sourdough guides that are great for beginners!
9. Honey Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies are sweetened only with honey, no processed sugar. They are pillowy-soft and absolutely perfect for dipping in a glass of milk. 10/10 for comfort food vibes and one of our fall favorites.
10. Apple Cider Vinegar

Alright, this one is a bit of an oddball, but fall always has me thinking of crisp apples and one of my favorite fall activities, visiting an apple orchard. This vinegar is so. easy. to. make. Keep the scraps from making apple pies or apple sauce, add in some sugar/water, wait a week or two, and ta-da! Homemade vinegar to use on salads, toss with savory dishes (makes an amazing glaze for sweet potatoes), marinade meats, or make your own fire cider. You can even make a big batch and put it in cute bottles to give as an extra special gift for the upcoming holidays.
